Styer M95
« on: November 06, 2006, 09:04:56 AM »
I just picked up a Styer M95 in 8mm hung/aust.  It is a sporterized rifle.  If it weighs > 6.5 lbs. I'd be surprised.  At 75 yards it is at an inch with the Hornady stuff from Graff.  What a great little rifle.

It is a great rifle. I ran across one recently in a gun shop and was intrigued with the straight pull bolt action and how it worked so easily and smoothly. I sure wish that I bought that one when I saw it, but it's been sold now.

I found a M95 carbine and a rifle recently at a gunshow . $110 for both and I couldn't resist... ;)
They were both covered with varnish , the rifle also showing abit of rust and the usual dings and dents .
The carbine cleaned up really nice with very little dings , no rust and nearly matching numbers except for the front barrel band / bayo lug . Looks like a real kicker ...lol

On that M95, Was the front sight bent?
Mine was and I have heard several other folks whose were!
I found the reason for this I think. The Germans apparently
claimed lots of them to arm home guard types of troops.
Thus the Nazi Eagle on much of the ammo. The people
who either made them or serviced them were almost slave labor.
The last thing they did before shipping the rifles out was bend the front sight
so they were not accurate. I actually heard this on a show in the History Channel
so I guess it is factual.
