I just purchased a new SP101 .357, 3-1/16" bbl.  I'm extremely impressed with its accuracy.  But there is a problem:
Cartridges do not seat completely in 2 or 3 of the chambers.  It appears that the ejector is not located correctly over the chambers.  Most cartridges can be seated correctly with mild force, but this should not be necessary.  (I tried many cartridges from many manufacturers)  This is not acceptable for a conceal gun.
The gun is on its way back to Ruger (after another $40 for shipping) so hopefully I will get a timely repair.
Has anyone seen problems like this?
Has anyone ever dealt with Ruger's Service Department?
This is my 7th ruger (SRH 480, P89, 10/22, MKII, 77/22, GP-100).  I've been very happy with the first 6...

I have an sp101 in 9mm and though havent shot it much I have not had any troubles with mine at all.

I had a ruger old army thata spring came out it was a simple fix but i could not quite get it. I called ruger just as they where closing. the tech I talked to was on his way out the door but took the time to walk me trough fixing the spring. it only took 10 munits but it was his time, that is good customer service

I have a Single Six with both .22LR and .22WMR cylinders.  It was accurate and fun, but after 1 or 2 cylinderfulls, you had to really push the cartridged hard to get them fully seated.  I think both cylinders had match dimention chambers.

I had a local gunshop ship it back to the factory and 2 weeks later I got a call that it was back.  I could not tell if they reamed the chambers out, but they did something, because it loaded easily all the time after that.  And I didnt lose any accuracy.

I can say that I am very happy with Ruger factory service.  Ruger did not charge me anything for this, the gunshop that sent it for me only asked for $20 for their shipping.

I have an SP101 in 9MM and in .357.  Have had no problems.  Chambering .357s after shooting a bunch of .38 Specials can run into difficulty if there is a build up of carbon and/or lead in the chamber from the .38s.  Lewis Lead Remover fixes it quick.

I love my SP-101. It is a sout little booger. The only complaint I have is you need to really pay attention to fouling under the ejector star. Any amount of fouling (ie- powder flakes) and it will bind up. I used to work in firearms retail. Never had a problem withthe SP-101. Never really had much of a problem with any manufacturer's service. Usually if you sent something back that was didn't look like it was 100 yrs old and asked them to repair it under warranty they did.

Still kicking myself for this one.  Have a Ruger Bisley .357 that used to shoot "1 ragged hole" groups off-hand at 25 yards with full power ammo.  Didn't know I could shoot that good.  Problem was you had to carry a wooden dowl and a mallet to get the empty cases out of 3 or 4 of the chambers.  There seemed to be some sort of constriction at the breech end of the chambers.  With .38 Spcl. loads there was no extraction problem, but accuracy wasn't near as good either.


Sent gun off to Ruger with a note describing the problem.  When it got back, case fit was noticeably loose and accuracy was horrible...8" groups at 25 yds.  Could barely keep 6 shots on paper.  I'd wrecked the most accurate handgun I'd ever owned.  

Sent it back again and they put a new cylinder in.  It shoots good now, but nothing like it used to.  All of this was no charge.  Wish I'd left it alone.
