4" Redhawk

I've heard (read) rumor that Ruger is going to come out with a 4" Redhawk.
Has anyone heard about this?
If they do come out with this I will get one for a packing gun while deer hunting.

I wouldn't know why my Redhawks 44 Mag barrel is 5 1/2 "  You'll lose more velocity with a 4" barrel.

cause a 4 inch gun is about the best lenght to pack in a holster and its surely not hard to get 1200-1300 fps out of a 300 grain bullet in a 4 inch redhawk and any more velocity just isnt needed. To me a round butted 4 inch redhawk would make for a great packing and hunting gun in a nice pancake holster and would even be small enough of a package to use for ccw occasionaly.

It is no longer a rumor and is official.  The 4" Redhawk is to be.  Will probably be on display at the SHOT show in Orlando in January.  Photos were shown on another chat site posted by a Ruger employee.  I have not checked Ruger yet, but the poster said he was allowed to post it now.  (it was one day last week)

Looked like a neat gun.  4" is a good overall barrel length.  Easy to carry in holster in car, etc....

I carry a 4" Dan Wesson, which it about the same size and weight as the SRH with a 4" tube.  I love it.  In either 44Mag or my 445 Supermag, It makes a great companion field gun.  I prefer to carry my 4" 357 which it probably my favorite field handgun, but if I am in bear country, it is the 44 or larger.  (with the 8" scoped barrel in my day pack, the Dan Wesson also doubles as a second hunting firearm out to 150 - 200 yards if my rifle fails for any reason.)  The heavy 4" 44 is the perfect size for SHOOTING in a necessary situation.  The mod. 29 is actaully better for carrying, but if you NEED a 44, you will NEED the extra weight of a DW or SRH to stand up to the heavy loads and all the practice it will take to be proficient with them.  The mod. 29 are just REALLY difficult to shoot well with heavy 44 loads (especially follow up shots) and will shoot loose after a steady diet of same.  If I were limited to only one barrel length in the 44, it would be the 4".

Get a 4" SRH when they come out, you will never be sorry.

Many people are saying it's the SRH (Super Redhawk) that is coming out in a 4" length.  I wish that was the case!  In reality, as the first post mentioned, what is coming out is a Redhawk (RH) in the 4 " length.  This will still be a great handgun to have.  I have always liked the Redhawk, and the 4" length just makes it more handy.    Wyatte
