I stopped being feeble and made up my mind and layed down the money. I picked up a Kimber Raptor with the adj. sights, black slide, stainless frame. It not only looks awsome, it has a really nice trigger out of the box which breaks at a little over 4 pounds with almost no creep. It is as tight as a custom shop pistol should be and costs what one costs as well, $1,200.
I handled, dry fired, worked the slide, looked at the sights, hefted you name it of all the brands I could lay my hands on, that do high quality 1911's. The gun shop people were sick of me I am sure.
The Kimber's generally were the most consistent in terms of quality, fit, finish etc. They were also the most expensive next to the Springfield American made 1911's and a couple of Colt's which I wasn't thrilled with anyway. So for $1,200 I have a Kimber Custom Shop piece that is awsome!
Now to shoot it
