H&I dies in off sizes
« on: November 12, 2006, 05:26:11 AM »
Looking for a good source of H&I dies for the Lyman 450, not currently being offered by Lyman or RCBS.   All references will be most appreciated.

Other than the usual advice of looking around, ebay, etc.  I have had dies honed out by a gunsmith to a slightly larger size.  If it is too much, a new punch (Whatever you call the thing in the middle that goes up& down?) would have to be made.

As for top punches, I now have about 6 or 8.  I don't get new ones, 'cause i can usually find one that will "do".

There is a gentleman that goes by the handle of "Buckshot" who is on the castbullets@gunloads web site. He makes H&I dies in oddball sizes. I have two so far done by him. One is a .380 for the 375 win big boar, and the other is a .462 for a ruger #1 in 45/70. Prices are very reasonable. You might want to get in touch with him regarding your needs. Frank

Thanks for the responses.  I'll investigate these options for the dies.
