Rifled slugs in rifled slug barrel.
« on: November 14, 2006, 11:57:48 PM »
Can you use rifled slugs in a rifled barrel?  I know that on a box of Remington sluggers it says they can be used through a rilfed barrel but Remington's website (the most commonly asked question or FAQ part) says not to do so.  I suppose leading of the barrel would be an issue if you can use them.  I have a fully rifled 870 slug barrel if that makes any difference.

You can use them but they lead up the barrel and accuracy goes to crap. I have a friend that has a gun like yours and he shoots the cheap Winchesters out of it. If he scrubs the barrel every 10-15 shots it's does pretty good.

I use the managed recoil "sluggers" in my 870 and they work terrific.
