Question for Redhawk1
« on: November 20, 2006, 09:50:19 AM »
Redhawk1,
I see that you post alot and own several Encores.  Could you give us your loading proceedure for your muzzleloader which provides you with the most accuracy.  How do you clean between shots?  Do you us windex on the patches.  Do you use aftermarket sabots.  Any info you can provide would be great. Thanks for your time and knowledge.

He and alot of other people use the modern blackpowder forum to answer this ?.  If you haven't already checked it out I would suggest doing so.  Its a really good place for BP info.  The traditional forum is alot better now too since GB put his foot down.  Just scroll down a little farther down the list and join the fun.

P.s.  Encores and omega's are probably the most discussed inlines discussed in the modern forum

I have been shooting the Encore muzzleloader since they first came out. I have tried a lot of different powders, primers and sabots and conceals.

I have two Encore muzzleloader now and both will shoot MOA at 100 yards.
My first is a standard Encore M/L and I am shooting 90 gr. of triple 7 and Precision Rifles 195 gr. DC duplex sabots and 25 ACP's with CCI small rifle primers.  My second Encore is the Pro-hunter and I am shooting T/C's 250 gr. bonded shock waves over 120 gr. of loose triple 7 and Remington kleenbore primers.

When I am at the range, I swab my barrel with Windex with vinegar after 10 shots. and then run dry patch to get barrel dry. I then run a patch with bore butter on it and shoot another 10 shots.   I put bore butter on the skirt of the sabot and I don't have a problem with major fouling or any crud ring. The sabots go right down the barrel and my accuracy is still great.

When I clean my muzzleloader's, I always season my bore with bore butter.  I have several of my buddies that use the same procedures with there Encores and have the same great results as I do. I think bore butter has been a great help in my process.

I also use bore butter in my Shiloh Sharps, because I shoot black powder cartridges.

I hope this helps you out.
