Has anyone hunted with this caliber? Have semiauto and have thought to put red dot or scope on it.

Saw one come out of the field 2 or 3 years ago ahead of an 8 pointer that had been taken by it.  One 250-260 gn slug through the chest at close to 75m and that was all she wrote for that one.  Large pistol as I recall but substantial enough for the caliber.  Open sights.  One very happy hunter.

Should do just as well or better with a scope.  HTH.  Mikey.

I've not gotten the change to draw blood with my IMI, but it has seen field use as a back-up. Great little cartridge for a semi-auto (we sell it BTW  ;D), I'd make sure on the red-dot that you call the customer service and verify that they will warrenty the sight if mounted on a 45WM. I just rand into a problem with a customer that bought a scope from us and ended up not being covered as it was mounted on a heavier recoiling gun than it was rated for.

I have a Contender barrel that I've shot several hogs and 2 deer with.  All the hgs were one shot kills, I had to shoot one of the deer twice.
