« on: September 23, 2006, 08:30:50 PM »
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes last week at a gun show there was a dealer who had a couple of cobray arms 37mm flare launchers as well as some kits to roll your own ammo for sale he said he recomended using 50-60gr of goex a 209 primer and a inert pay load ,apparently he didn't have any flares, but it got me thinking that thing w\the payload loaded w\flour would be the bees knees to play with. does any one have any experince with one of these and are flares availble preferabley parachute type, please advise ,thanks-tt

It's possible that loading this type of device with something other than flares would make it a "destructive device" or other similar bad thing in the eyes of the ATF.  I am not saying this is a definitive statement but it would be worth checking out (with the manufacturer at least) before getting committed to the hardware.

I have two stand alone 37mm launchers. By federal law they are not firearms. The reason for that is there has never been a commericially made explosive round.
Bird bombs or bangers are still legal but no longer made or sold.
That being said, you may not have an unregistered 37mm launcher and anti-personal ammunitions at the same time. Anti-personal ammunition is solid wood projectiles, wood pellets, rubber balls (one or more as a payload) or beanbag rounds.
In mine I shoot smoke, flare or inert rounds. The inert rounds I shoot are 35mm film cans filled with sand and/or powdered chalk.
In the picture the aluminum case is 8.25 inches long. Some of my cases are shortened aluminum. I also have several kinds of plastic cases.

I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

Go to www.37mm.com   I think you can legally have a half oz of black powder as a payload.  More is considered a DD.  I am going from memory so check out the site for correct info.
