RWS 350 Magnum Weak Point

Has anybody ever had a problem with there 350 mag where the ball bearing in the barrel where it breaks open came flying out when you broke opened the barrel.The way that they incorperated to hold the bearing in the hole is to tap the metal at the end of the hole with some sort of tool to disfigure the metal.Thats all thats holding the bearing in the hole.This is my first break barrel rifle.Is this the way all break barrels use to hold that bearing in the hole.

They way your describing the retention of the Ball is called Staking. It's commonly used in the Automotive Industry to retain the cups for the needle bearlings on UJ's on propshafts. I have never heard of the UJ's flying apart nor the spring powered ball on an Air gun latch coming out. and that design has been used for many ................ many years indeed on many diffeent makes.

    Oh I once had someone tell me that the Feinwerbau Sport models 124 & 127 were poorly made as the barrels wore loose. Turns out this "Person" thought himself a Gunsmith and had got hold of another barrel and fited it to make it a switch barrel. It was his workmanship which was at fault not the makers    If a ball came losse I would suspect that soem Home Gunsmith and I use the term loosely  had been fiddling with it.

I never touched the bearing or anything around it.Except for pushing a pellet into the barrel to fire.

Ok that part wa snot clear so it's time to talk to the importers as it should not happen ........... end of story  Please let me know who it goes.

I'd ship it back to Umarex USA, the importer. They'll replace the spring and ball and stake it properly this time. Staking parts in place is very common btw. really not a weak point...
