What do you all think would be a better load for white tail and pig hunting?  Any chance you might know the balistics?
I am not afraid to make an example out of you

The S&B 196 gn cutted edge soft point is excellent 8mm ammo for any hunting.  Velocity is about 2500'/sec.  The Wolf Gold should be about the same, maybe a tad slower.  If you can view both brands of ammo, see if the Wolf or the PRVI is a boattail soft point - if it is it should shoot quite accurately in your rifle.  The S&B cutted edge soft point has a long bearing surface and for some rason or another it just will not shoot fer schmidt in one of my rifles.  HTH.  Mikey.

I did a wet news paper test using the 8mm - S&B 196 gr. Cutted edge; 300 Win. Mag - 180gr. Federal with Nosler Partition, and 300 Win. Mag. 180gr. Hornady Heavy Mag.. The 300 Mag. with the Noslers- Penetrated the farthest, But all Noslers lost their core (As Usuall). The 8mm was a close second- All 3 S&B's held together, and one mushroom was huge. I mean larger than the size of a 20gauge bore. The 300 Mag. Hornady - Had the least penetration and 2 out of 3 - Fell apart. The S&B's shoot O.K. in My 98 Mauser - any where from 1 to 3" @ 100yds.. For the price of the S&B's, They are one heck of a Cartridge with a lot of snap. I think S&B advertises about 2600 FPS.out of the Muzzle, for this load, but it loses Velocity quickly after 100 yds.. This 8mm Cartridge would be good for anything in the Lower 48.

I chrono'ed the PVRI (aka Wolf Gold) out of my M48 and think I remember getting 2600? for it.

It was accurate for me and I went hunting with it. Didn't see anything so no results.
