New 17 HMR
« on: December 04, 2006, 01:33:41 PM »
Got a new sporster in 17 HMR and started it out on Hornadys 17 grain v-max ammo.  It shot an average group of 1.25" through the first 50 rounds.  Switched to federals with the same bullet and the first 5 shot group was 4" to the left and .42" in size.  Every group with the federals is .42 or better at 100 yards. ;D

For that matter, different lot numbers of the same ammo shoot different in any of my 4 Hmrs, that's kinda nice cuz if the batch I get on sale doesn't shoot in one of em, it'll shoot good in one of the others! ;) A CCI rep named Guy use to post on RFC a couple years ago, he told us then that CCI's Lewiston plant is the only plant in the world that makes it.

thats just what the rep told me , one plant assmbles them all, hornady invented it and cci make them , i had a remington rep tell me the  same thing that cci made all theres, mainly only specifications  would be the different colored balistic tips , i think thats why cci makes their  brand with the TNT hollowpoints so  its different from all the rest??
