Sized right?
« on: November 30, 2006, 02:20:07 PM »
Im 5'5" and 125lbs. Im wondering if a Rem Model 7 CDL in .308 Winchester would fit me better than the full-size 700CDL in .30-06. Im leaning towards .308 since my dad reloads it and I do it for him sometimes. If I got the 06 then we could share bullets. I havnt handled either one of these rifles but I know Ill end up with one of the two.

It would be an excellent choice but honestly the stock length is same, action is but about 1/4 less than the 700 SA and maybe another 1/2 shorter than the LA. If you go with the Mtn. Rifle the barrel will be 2" longer but weight will be within 1/2 pound of the same. So while I love the Model 7 it's not that much smaller really.

I think there are Model 7 youth rifles available.  It all depends on body structure.  The best thing to do is go to a gunshop that has a display of the rifles and try them on for size.  But remember if you will be wearing thicker clothes during the hunt.  It could make a big difference in how a youth rifle fits you.

I know alot of people who could use a youth model when they are all bundled up for cold weather.  My self included.

Even tho I lean toward the 30-06 myself, I think the Model 7 would be an excellent choice.   (are you sure you don't want to get it in a 7-08 however???  ;) )
