Looking at getting a #1 in .405 myself.  I've got no real experience with this cartrdige.  What I'm curious about is the recoil in the #1 compared to other chamberings, specifically the #1 in .45-70.  Doubtful I'll shoot it enough to reload so I'm thinking more along the lines of factory ammo.  However, after lookig around after reading this thread, I'm kinda likng what I see with the Barnes offerings.

That's great news Dave, you're gonna love it!! I thought you'd like the Barnes 350gr XFB in it, they didn't shoot good, but they sure look cool!! I may try them with a different powder some time, still have about 80 of em left, I haven't given up completely on em. The Hornady SPs just shot so good, too bad the Barnes didn't do well. :'(

$702!?   I knowthat's about walmart's selling price but I'lll happily pay a bit more through my dealer and give him the business than give it a unknowledgeable box store that could care less about the customer after the sale. Heck that isn't a bad price at all for a new one.  I'm still gona go with a #1H in the classic .405 chambering.  Proberly after the first of the year.
