Best crimp for reloading 454 Casull

need a little info on which is the best crimp for a 454. should i use a tapper crimp or a lee factory crimp. I use the lee factory crimp on my 44 and 357 with no problems and i like it. Another question? How do you no when you have enough crimp or to much crimp? Most tell you to turn it down till it touches and then about 1/2 trun more. how do you no if you are over crimping the round? ofcourse you can go to far and buldge the case. thanks

One of the few times I'll plug for Lee, the factory crimp die. As far as how much crimp; enough that you don't have bullet movement and get consistant velocity/accuracy. anymore is just ovekill, but in the .454 will not really hurt too much unless you are buldging cases to get it to crimp.

I've reloaded for all of the Super mag calibers, except the 414, since Gates and Dan Wesson developed them. Hands down, in my opion, is the Redding Profile Crimp die. It helped accuracy in my standard .357, and .44 loads for silhouette. And kept the bullets from pulling out under some heavy recoil in my .445 Super Mag. I shoot a 280gr. and a 330gr cast in the .445, and it worked for them. Gypsyman
