Double Rifle Cast Bullet Mould
« on: December 01, 2006, 09:26:04 AM »
Question here for Veral: can you make a mould that will approximate the traditional .470 Nitro Express 500gr. round nose bullet as currently manufactured by Woodleigh?  I assume this would need to be a gas checked bullet since velocities are in the 2,100fps range, and the standard Hornady .475 checks used for the Linebaugh and .480 Ruger ought to work.  I've got an 80-yr old William Evans double in this caliber and it gets spendy sending those Woodleighs into the hillside for practice.

You are right, spendy to send jacketed bullets into the dirt, but also harder on those almost priceless barrels than cast.

Of coarse I can, send your order.  In the last 25 years I have turned out satisfactory molds for every customer wanting one, so long as caliber doesn't go over 8 bore.  Further there isn't an oddball or speical diameter I've run into yet from 50 cal down that can't use one of the Hornady or other commercial gas checks available.  I cut the base special if need be and use the next size larger.  They crimp down just fine and perform great.
