I was just wondering what you guys thought about using rifles in Cortland County for deer hunting. I'm joining a hunting club/camp in Southwest Cortland County and would really prefer to use a rifle instead of a shotgun. I'm kind of at a loss with this. They'll let you use a rifle in Oswego County but not Cortland County. Oswego County seems way more populated then Cortland. Once you're away from the City of Cortland it's a pretty remote county. I would like to hear from some of the people in Cortland County. Our camp is about 2 miles from Tioga County which is open for rifle hunting. I can see them mandating "shotgun only" in some of more populated counties to some extent. I don't know how to approach the DEC about this either. I know they added a county to the rifle list last year, Chautauqua or Cattaraugus County I can't remember. Let me know what you guys/gals think. Thanks, NYH!
