Brought a second hand Dan Wesson .357
« on: October 02, 2006, 02:02:27 AM »
Hi, I just brought a second hand Dan Wesson .357 on a whim for my brother. How can I tell what model it is?

The only markings are:
Dan Wesson Arms
Monson. Mass. U.S.A
356xxx

and on the barrel:
Dan Wesson Arms
.357 Magnum CTG

Thanks

Looks like a model 15 to me.  The 15 is blued, with adjustable sights.

That looks exactly like the DW I just bought on Friday.  I am new to revolvers, so I have no idea what model it would be...I"m trying to find out the same information as you.

That is in fact a Model 15-2, and a late Monson at that (the trigger stop is in the frame, not on the trigger as in earlier examples.)

I think the meaning of the last post was that you would wind up keeping it and have to find your brother another toy.

I got one about this time last year with a 4in barrel, plain wood grips,no tools, for $175.  There is a picture of it in the picture thread.  Didn't think it was a great deal, but fair.
