SKS accuracy improvement
« on: December 04, 2006, 07:33:17 AM »
I am very pleased with my SKS (chicom) modification, I purchased a Fiberforce monte carlo stock
($41 at Cabella's)  It looks good, a bit heavy, but my accruacy really improved, like 50-75%.  @ 50yd I am very close to 1". (previous about 3")  I was using UMC FMJ 123gr.  But then I shot the Wolf steel HP and they shot much better also.  (now I shoot resting on a bag standing up from hood of truck) with a cheap 5x scope.  so a really good shooter with benchrest could probabally do better.

BTW I read somewhere that swapping stocks was difficult, didn't try, so I was ordering guns from my gunsmith and asked him if he woud do it, he said yes, $20.  When I picked up he said it was very difficult, and moaned and growned. but he is a strange duck anyway.  Just my experience.
