Alternate ammo for Winchester Cannon
« on: December 08, 2006, 09:02:30 AM »
At a gun show a few years back I purchased a chamber reamer for .223    A few months later I came across a few hundred 5.56 whatever military blanks.  Using bar stock, I turned a metal insert that matched a 10 ga shell and drilled a 15/64ths hole through it length wise.  Then I used the chamber reamer to make a chamber in the base.   The military blanks fire just great.  I also made an insert to fire 410 blank shells that I load myself with 1f.

Cool idea.  Now I know what to do with that 50cal ammo box full of .223 blanks ....

CW, if you don't know what to do with those 223 blanks, you could always send them to me. My golf ball launcher uses them.  I've been buying them at 10 cents each and that gets expensive quickly.
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

[off topic]  That was the other idea rolling around in my mind - adapting (with BATF's permission of design) an AR upper with a golf-ball caliber barrel for the what-ever-the-legal-non-firearm-use is.

Be careful with blank launched devices.  There are several types of 5.56mm grenade launching blanks and several types of greneral use blanks.   copdoc

Good point.  (Thanks!)

Since this is off topic, we're continuing this part of the conversation off-lilne.
