Quality Holsters for Reasonable Money?
« on: October 02, 2006, 05:40:18 AM »
Hi there,

I've got a Sig 229 that I'd like to use in the field for small game, or possibly smaller wild pigs at very short ranges. Who's making quality holsters at a reasonable price these days? I'd prefer leather, but will settle for cordura, etc., if there's no other options. Once again, this isn't for concealed carry, and the holster must be very secure (hunting will be with dogs).

Thanks,

Syncerus

I have an Uncle Mikes cordura holster for the rare occasions that I have to use it, but I have never been entirely happy with it. It works, and it's inexpensive, but I really would like to replace it with a good form-fitting holster.

El Paso Saddlery Co. Top notch leather goods at a reasonable price. (They've been in business over 100 years so they must know what they're doing.)

Go the web site of jsholsters.com   these are light weight form fitting kydex holsters for most of the serious pistols.  I wear mine with a glock for 18 hours in total comfort.  The company has a total happiness policy or you can get all of your money back.  Well worth a look. Holsters cost $50.oo

I'll second the motion for Simplyrugged for good leather and a good price. And yes, Rob is a great guy.
He has a variety of holsters for outdoor use, and some of his designs are good for dual uses as well.
His pancake style holsters can be used strong side, cross draw, OWB, and IWB, if you purchase the inside out snaps, all with the same holster, and you could order the chest strap conversion as well, and use the same holster straped to your chest. Now that's getting pretty versatile with one holster.
