Hey Folks,
New to the board, looking forward to learnign much and offering what little info I may or may not have....and to get started I have a quick question....
I have two NEFs, one in a .243 ultra hunter with the bull barrell, that I love, and one in a 44 mag, that I just got a week or two ago....I'm having trouble getting the 44 to shoot quite right, and I heard somethings about forearm pressure that I though I'd try....one of the things I heard was about spacers on the forearm screw...can somebody tell me in plain english how to do this...I'd really appreciate it...
lookin forward to hearing your thoughts....

chaseguitar,

First welcome to GBO!  I am sure you will find this place very informative.  Many here have gone way out of their way to help other members with problems they were having.  Now on to your question.  First of all I'm not really sure about what you mean by your .44 not shooting "quite right".  I will tell you to look to the FAQ section to help answer a lot of your questsions in reference to helping with the accuracy of your Handi.  That being said, I do wish you the very best of luck with your .44.  If you search the caliber here in GBO you will find less than stellar reports on the .44 from my own experience as well as others.  The problems seem to be an oversize bore and a less than optimal rate of twist.  My bore slugged out to .432" rather than .429" as it should and others seem to have been in that size range as well.  There have been a few exceptions but for the most part the .44's have not lived up to expectations.  I'm sure that there will be others that chime in on this and hopefully you got a good one and can make it shoot.

Best,

Wolfgang

Start by slugging the bore so you'll know what you've got and where to start.

IF yours is over sized too, get a mold/sizer the right size and roll your own.

Properly fit cast bullets will shoot just fine in most anything.  "Proper fit"

That's the trick,

good luck and wish you the best with it.

get hornady bullets and save your money......if you buy any other jacket bullet other than hornady it is 429..dia where horn,is 430    it is the only way to start.......you didnt state if you reload????????i hope you do...if not you will need to to get any good results out of your 44............if you want small groups you might want to sell me your barrel and save time and money.........if you want hunting accurecy then go with 200....or 300 grain horhady bullets.....imr 4227 powder....might try h110 after 4227......if you like lead then a 200 grain lee mold will be ok or a 431 dia bullet mold.........i bought a non shooter from this board and it now can shoot good enough for a hundred yards to kill bambi....anything else??????just ask jb
