Saw 11 does on the first weekend. Took a fat doe. No bucks to be found. Went out last night with the wife and saw 14 does across the fence. I'll switch to bow and try to find Mr. Big.

The deer in the area I was hunting had gone nocturnal, you would sit in the stand until dark and see nothing, come back the next morning and when it got light see where they had fed.  I only got to hunt 3 days but I didn't see a deer.  Oh well, I killed a big bodied, little racked 6 point during gun season so I have some meat but I need more to last until next season.  Maybe I can get a doe or two with my cross bow this week or with my bow before the season ends.  I was to busy to hunt earlier in the season.  Hope everyone had a good season

You mean that there are deer in KY?   :o  This was probably the worst season I've had in years.  I saw a total of 7 while huntinig this year, from opening day of bow season to the late black powder.  Heck, I saw 15 the other day while driving to dinner.  Only decent buck was a nice 9 point on opening morning of gun season that me and my buddy called in.....I had a shot first, but he wanted to mount it. So I let him have it.  There was no movement at all this year.  Couldn't even tell when the rut was in.  It was so bad, there weren't even any deer coming into the corn crops this year.  All in all, it was a stinker!

Well i didnt get my buck untill the 2nd to last day of the last m/l season this year  i saw what looked like a mature buck coming toward me then caught a glimps of his rack as he faced me through the trees and could tell he was narrow racked so i put the gun back on my lap, when he got at 50 yds and in the open i could see him better and could tell he was a slim bodied old buck , but his rack was heavy and tall so i shoulderd my encore and put the hairs on his shoulder and droped him in his tracks.. he has a 14 inch spread with 6 inch bases and that carried pretty much all the way ,he also had 13 points( he scored 151 7/8 ) not to bad for a 14 inch deer..
he is the oldest deer i have ever taken not sure how old but he barley had any teeth left and the few he had were down to the gum as far as they would go..

Those were some great pics!  One sweet sweet deer (I'm jealous) and one great looking grandson too (I'm too young  :D).
