posted on the wrong site for rimfire, sorry.  I am going to buy a 280 and wanted to know if wood or syn stock is better.  New member great website very informational.

Welcome aboard! The syn stock set weighs 5oz less than the wood set. The wood stocked rifle is a little easier to make changes to the forend for accuracy improvements  if needed, the syn forend is hollow and there's no removable spacer. Other than those issues, take your pick, the wood stocked rifle usually sells for a little less, but that can vary.

The .280 is one of the best shooting calibers from H&R, you should enjoy it a lot!!

there is about $12 difference in price.  How about durability in both?

The syn stocks are very durable and would be my choice for a truck gun.

I like the synthetics but with the longer barrel on the 280, the extra weight of the wood has a better balance...

I also think the .280 is a great caliber and have a couple of Handi's in that round. For my standard long barrel I prefer wood, and I agree the Camo Laminates are my favorite stocks also, but on a par with a nice Walnut set. On my 19" barrelled .280 named "Thunderboomer" I currently have a set of Survivor stocks with the "Storearm Forearm" and it wears a Red Dot. It kicks a bit but is quick and accurate, and you only notice the "kick" at the range anyway. I say go with the wood....<><.... :)
