trade?
« on: March 11, 2011, 09:49:18 AM »
Guy wants to trade me straight up. I have a heritage firearms rough rider 22lr, 22mag conversion pistol. Its like new and he wants to trade me a S&W I bolt in .270 in good shape straight up. Do it? Don't? I don't know. No experience with s&w rifles.

I would think the I bolt would be worth more but I think they have been discontinued, I could be wrong though. I say if you need a .270 trade him, if the guns not shot out that is.

Unless there is something bad wrong with the rifle I would trade in a heart beat, and I don`t need a 270 at all.

I don't know... that handgun sounds pretty versatile.  If you don't NEED a .270 then keep the .22/.22 mag.  Lot's of applications for a handgun than can shoot both.

I'd make that trade, those pistols sell for a little more than $200 brand new.  The S&W boltgun was probably close to double that brand new.

take that trade and run like hell. Dont walk or hesitate and give him a chance to heal any damaged brain cells. If nothing else you could easily take it to a gun shop and trade it for a good brand new single six and a few bricks of ammo if you dont need a rifle and youd end up with a much better gun.

Yeah, I'd grab that up too... if I were you, I had a I-bolt in 30-06, and it was a fine rifle, fairly accurate, the bolt took some 'getting used to'.. I recall everything I ran thru it shot around an inch, I had to send the bolt in, it was recalled, came back with little punched dot on the underside of the bolt handle.. maybe you should see if thats there.  The only reason I sold it was that I have a Remington pump that's freakishly accurate for a pump 30-06.  Good luck... Like said prior: Make the trade and RUN! The S&W is worth a lot more than the Heritage and to me would have better trade value.
