Any Ham Radio Operators Drive A Rav-4?
« on: December 20, 2006, 12:56:51 PM »
Just purchased a neat Toyota Rav-4 and want to install a 2 mtr. rig in it.  Manuals says never attempt to change the fog light bulb, nor install any two way radios without checking with a Toyota dealership.  Checked with two dealerships already and neither knows what the manual means nor what I should do to install the rig.  My model has the side air bags so perhaps that's the reason?  Anyway, I usually drill a hole in the top of the roof and run the coax under the head liner along the column and under the front seat.

Question is:  Anybody ever installed a two way in a vehicle with side air bags.  Oh yes, did phone Toyota in California and they said I should contact the local dealer.  DG   K9EWU

I used to have a couple of folks with RAV4s that were part of my morning qsos a few years ago.  I drive the other direction now, so have lost touch with them.  Sorry.  I wonder what the concern is.  Let us know when you find out please.
