Sidekick - exterior maintenance
« on: December 10, 2006, 02:30:22 PM »
Anyone have a trick for keeping that orange-film of "pre-rust" of the blued barrels when moving in and out of the weather?  I'm in MN and keeping the condensation/snow off the gun is near impossible.  Last night I let is sit for 2 hours to warm up from 20 degree weather, and the condensation had already dried to turned to powder.  It just wipes off with an oily cloth, but jeez, a pain.

How much do used Sidekicks with < 25 shots through them sell for??

I always use a good coating of thompson center bore butter and have had no rust yet, smells good too!

I agree with single action, I use Natural Lube 1000 and 1 (bore butter) inside and outside on all my ML's and it works great. Clean the gun real well, apply it to the bore and all metal and I even use it on my ML's wooden stocks. I still have some of the  Pine scentrd stuff in the grren tube left and I think it's wonderful. I hope they still make the pine scent, but the original is not bad either. I usually hunt in central and northern Maine and I think the climate is similar to yours, and it works for me....<><.... :)
