Benjiman Pump up

Do you think the Benjiman Pump up rifle is powerful enough to hunt squirrels?

I own a Benjamin 392 in .22 caliber it is my fourth or fifth benjamin since i was a teenager ive taken everything from pigeons to squirrels to racoons with a good benjamin .they will make an excellent hunting rifle as i currently hunt with one now .that being said as long as youd ont mind pumping it and mine is not scope friendly so i use a williams aperature sight .Some have no problem mounting a scope im afraid I can tseems to get mine to settle down once a scope is mounted hence it camlps on to the barrels bottom end

The Benjamin is a fine airgun. I would suggest a .22 for squirrels because they are tough little sob's. I believe Benjamin recommends eight pumps for maximum velocity. Anymmore than that, you risk locking the valve up. Unless you get a Steroid conversion from MAC1. Then they can be pumped up to 14 times!

Another fine pumper to consider is the Sheridan. They are in .20, which is an excellent caliber.

The nice thing about pumpers are you can leave them pumped up for a good amount of time until ready to use. This is in contrast to a springer, which shouldn't be cocked for an extended period, as the spring may take a "set".

Not to hijack the thread, but on a related note, how are the Benjamin pump up pistols? I was thinking about getting a pellet pistol. My choices were a .22 Benjamin or the much cheaper .17 Crossman. I was thinking the Benjamin might be more accurate, and slightly more capable of taking small game. I was also thinking a .22 pellet pistol might be good for dispatching animals caught in traps along a trapline. Any thoughts?

Willysjeep134- From my experience, The Crosman will be more accurate, because it is a .177. Just as a side note, Crosman owns Benjamin and Sheridan. I think all the barrels are made in house.

As for using an airpistol on a trap line, I'm not sure. Most airpistols generate 3-5 ft. lbs of muzzle energy. I guess, maybe on small animals, like muskrat, if you got real close, and shot the head it may work. Personally, I think you'd be better off with a .22 short out of a single shot pistol or rifle. The CCI cb's are quiet and pack a good punch. Or carry a full size air-rifle (pump or spring).

If you are a tinkerer, then the Crosman 1377 can be juiced up a bit, and converted to a .22 (1322). There are a few web sites that deal with the mods.

I have a Daisy and a GAMO that the triggers are so bad on, and that are so inaccurate,  that I don't shoot them much.  I have been looking at the Benjamin at Bass ProShop and I really like it.  I wish I knew if it shot well and had a good trigger.  Can you put a scope on them?

They shoot very well, and yes you can put a scope on them.

I uset to have the Benjiman.Its a fine pellet rifle for small game.I put a williams peep sight on it.I let my son n law use it.Then one
night they had a house fire.Lost everything.It still brings memories of all the squarreles I got with it.Sure miss that little rifle.

I ordered a Limited Edition Benjamin yesterday.   Can't wait to shoot it.

According to tracking info mu Benjamin Limite Edition will be delivered this coming Monday.  It's a .22 so any suggestions on brand & type of pellets will be appreciated.
