Pellets VS Powder
« on: December 17, 2006, 07:47:25 AM »
I had heard that the pellets are faster than the Powder Loads. I shoot 120grs. T7 in my Prohunter, and have been told it's the same as the three pellet load, some told me that the pellet load was faster. Both are kinda right. The pellets are faster,by 63fps. In actual shooting, and trajectory, there's little diffrence. With the Hotter load you gain around 7/8 inch at 250yds. The diffrence from there on in is almost non existant. I posted this on another forum. Ron   http://www.modernmuzzleloader.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=5463

You may very well be right, but most if not all of use would not see the difference at the range. That is why I use 120 gr. of loose triple 7 when I am shooting at the bench and for my first shot while hunting. I only use 150 gr. of triple 7 pellets as a quick second shot. I find it quicker to load 3 pellets than loose powder. But my impact is the same for both.

You are correct! The only "real" diffrence is at 250yds. and it's only around 7/8 inch. Heck, I could breath diffrent at the shot and make more of a diffrence than that! ;D Ron
