2nc range day for 358 GLR
« on: December 17, 2006, 03:47:27 PM »
The first range session dealt with getting the rifle sighted in with factory loads. I was surprised at their light recoil. Well this time I was shooting the 200 grain Corelokt RN under 47.0 grains of 3031 and the Hornady 200 grain spire point under 45.0 grains of the same powder. Both loads were noticably stiffer in the redoil department and hit aproximatly 9 inches higher on the target than the 200 grain Silvertip factory load. I really didn't try to shoot very tight groups as it was windy but the reloads seemed very accurate and hit to the same POI. The trigger is light though has some travel so it is easy to shoot well with it.

Did you get to chrony any of the loads . I myself plan on using the 200 PSPCL if they shoot well in my BLR but that wont be until late spring , for now i am going to use the winchester factory 200 gr silver tips and will probibly get t to the range after the holidays.

No chrony available but the Hornady's are probably going 2450 fps and the Remingtons 2550 fps. I was going to get some Remington PSPCL 200 grain bullets but had several people tell me they don't expand quickly enough to suit me. I am happy with 3031 powder and the reformed 308 cases work perfectly.  I bought 2 boxes of factory 200 grain Silvertips and still have 25 rounds left. Thats how easy it was to get the reloading started using 308 cases.
