Unintentional Coyote
« on: January 03, 2007, 03:30:33 PM »
I killed my first coyote today and didn't even plan on doing it.  I was deer hunting along a tree line bordering a grassy field when I saw some movement.  I watched it and saw that it was a coyote.  My scent was blowing right to it and I figured it would run pretty soon, but it didn't.  It got closer and closer.  I decided I didn't want it any closer and started waving at it.  I was trying not to make noise because there was still 30 minutes of shooting light left.  It saw me and stopped and then kept coming.  I waited until it was about 20 feet away and then raised my rifle and then shot.  It went down with a neck shot.  First coyote.

Southernpride

I want to go coyote calling with you, We go to a lot of trouble to hide our selves and one comes running up to you { Give me a break } I think Buford had it right the yote must have been suicidal and you was his way out of this life. That's just another case of { I don't have a clue } as to what was on his mind. One heck of a good story though. You may be a natural coyote magnet.
Keep us posted if you go hunting again. I have hunted coyotes in Kansas and never had that kind of luck. Thanks a lot for the story and we will be looking for you to drop in any time. Good luck Southernpride.......Joe.........

The bad thing was that I wanted the hide but a 180 grain 30-06 bullet didn't do him any good.
