Winchester 1894 AE .357 Trapper
« on: January 05, 2007, 01:16:53 PM »
How hard to come buy are these rifles? Also what are some real world values. I was at the local consignment gun dealer and an older gentleman brought one in it was in the box, It is an older one, he shot less than a box of ammo since new. The gun is 98+%. I put it in layaway before it hit the shelf. I fell in love with it. 500 seemed a fair price since I have been looking for a .357 lever for 6 mos. I like marlin actions but this seemed to appeal to me. Just want to get some good info on the gun from some experienced gun peeps.

Fifty,
I had a mod 94 trapper in 30/30 years ago, and it kicked like a mule. I doubt that will be the case with the 357 however. I have also had a couple of Marlins in 357, and a couple of Rossi model 92 clones. Truth be told, I am partial to the Marlins, but the 94 and 92's seem a little lighter to handle as I recall.

You might post the question on the lever action forum http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/smf/index.php/board,34.0.html

and/or the Marlin Lever Action forum http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/smf/index.php/board,130.0.html

... there'll be a bunch of experienced gun peeps there I expect.

Cheers
Kerry
