Should I ?
« on: December 21, 2006, 06:19:33 AM »
Ok, about a year ago I got on this Sub MOA kick and wanted all my bullets in the same hole, and I wasn't getting this with my Encores.  So, duh dummy me, I sold them all, and we shall leave it at that.  But now, after a year of shooting the other guns, I was thinking, should I get another Encore.  I was thinking of the Pro-Hunter but wanted to get some thoughts from you guys.

Yup, buy one.  I don't think the off the shelf pro hunter is worth the extra cash.  I bought a stainless encore and put a pro hunter thumbhole on it.  Get whatever you want and customize it to suit you.  I've taken two deer with my encore and they were proud to be shot by such a fine rifle.

I would have to vote for getting one.  ;D
If  you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

I did it.....Picked up a stainless, thumbhole hardwoods finish, one today.  Didn't really need the .270 barrel, but that was what was offered to me on a trade.  New, virgin rifle.....Now, after Christmas, I will start buying some more barrels.

If you want under an inch you are better off buying a custom barrel like bullberry.  I don't think most run of the mill barrels are going to average less than an inch. I had a remington bull barrel and averaged an inch with some reloads. Also, I think people you inch groups very loosely, like 4 of five was in an inch but the fifth was a flyer making it a 2" group.  An inch is a good group. Varmintal.com has a lot of info about real accuracy and he uses encores with custom barrels.
