22 hornet on SB1 frame.
« on: December 15, 2006, 02:21:35 PM »
I recently read a post on putting a 22 hornet on an SB1 frame. Being I had a vacation day I had to use this year I had the day off. I put my hornet barrel on my SB1 frame and tried it. With a near max charge of H110 and a 35 grain Vmax the primer would blow back into the Larger firing pin hole (as mentioned by Fred I believe) on the SB1.
Shooting a max charge of LILGUN with the same bulets I had no problems. Looking at the Hogdon data on these loads the pressure on The H110 loads is almost twice the pressure on the LILGUN loads with only a listed velocity loss of about 100 fps. I think I'll stick to the LILGUN loads in this setup.

Please only do this one at your own risk.

And a wise choice with sticking with the lower pressure producing powders...

Yeah after looking at the Hogdon data it looks like a real winner. I'll be shooting groups in the near future. How can ya beat low pressure and high velocity all in one.
