TX Omega x7 mountain rifle? Anyone have one? Thoughts?
« on: December 17, 2006, 06:22:34 PM »
IM looking into getting my first muzzleloader. I have the chance to get a TC Omega x7 for a very good price, anyone have one and can give me the advantages/drawbacks to this model over say a normal Omega x5 ?

Thanks and again any suggestions or input is more then welcome to this very new beginner to muzzleloading. I have been shooting for years but not anything close to a muzzle loader. thanks guys!

I have never shot a Z5, but I do own an X7.  Depends what you want it for.  It is shorter and lighter...not an advantage in a long-range ML but excellent for trekking up the mountains or hunting in woods/brush.  It comes equipped with a Williams peep sight, which, combined with the compact size, is why I bought the gun.  I absolutely love it for close-range work, too bad my work was all long-range with the scoped version this year.

If you plan to use the peep sights, be prepared to call the company and make them ship you a taller front sight.  As it came from the factory, mine shot a foot high at 50 yds with the rear sight maxed out.

Andy,
