What type of powder.... 7.62X39 Winchester White Box
« on: December 26, 2006, 07:31:02 AM »
Picked some Win. White Box 7.62X39 ammo up to try in my AR and found it shoots very well.  I reload and would like to duplicate the load but when I pulled one appart I found a powder that is much finer than W748 or W760 and really resembles Accurate Arms 1680.  I find it hard to beleive this is what they would be using although it is a recommmended powder by accurate arms for this caliber in about the weight Winchester is using.

The components when I pulled them appart was a 123gr. FMJ bullet and 24.6gr of ?? powder.

Anyone have any thought as to what they are using.  It would save me a lot of load developement time if I could find out...

Thanks...

The powder's the ammo manufacturers use normally isn't available on the retail market, it's normally a special powder available only to manufacturers.
