« on: December 22, 2006, 02:43:45 AM »
Hi all,

How is the hunting on the extreme eastern side of Alaska?  Say around the Eagle area?

Low Moose population, we have opened the Grizzly season there to baiting, but only a few Grizzlies have been taken.  That is the area of the 40 mile Caribou herd.  To hunt them is by registration permit only.  In other words I won't recommend that area to anyone.  Rog

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Thanks for the info.  I'm trying to find a place to move to in a few years, that is both "out of the way" and has something in the way of hunting/fishing.  From what I have read, you folks do alot of driving to find game.  Planning long hunts, and being gone a long time.  I generally spend most of a season in the field but kill percentages on state land is in the 18-26% range.  I have talked to a biologist for fairbanks and he said it is about the same based on reported kills.  Would you say this is correct?  If you had to choose were in alaska to ove to get better hunting/fishing, where would that be?  Thanks for the advice : )
