Alternate sights for Versapack .22?
« on: December 23, 2006, 08:58:33 AM »
I tried to mount a 4x scope on the Versa Pack .22 with poor results.  Can anyone recommend a receiver sight setup that will work without replacing the front sight?  If not, and the front sight has to be replaced then what brand worked best?  Williams. other?

Thanks,

Steve Hunts

Steve, I don't have a Versa pack, so I'm not familiar with how it's set up, but take a look at the Peep and Firesights in the FAQs, maybe that will help.

Steve:

I bought my 17 year old special needs son a VersaPack and had NEF drill and tap both barrels for a scope rail.  I removed the front sight and filled the hole in with a screw plug and then removed the rear dovetail sight.  A small amount of sanding was required on the plastic rear sight housing on the .22 barrel so that the scope rail didn't interfere with it.  The .22 barrel has a Tasco Red Dot mounted on it while the .410 will have a Mueller Quick Shot.  Everything seemed to work out OK except I had to file the  scope rail slot a little to fit the Tasco's cross slot dimensions.  Here's a couple pictures of the setup.
