I was wanting to know if you can shoot the varmint loads, like the 40 gr bullets out of the ar-15 without having problems with the gas system or harming anything else. I ask since on my m1a (308) 175 gr bullets are max anything higher causes problems with the gas system. thanks

As long as there is enough gas preasure to operate I see no reason why not.  KN

The .45 gr HP Winchester white box from Wal-Mart cycle my Bushmaster fine.  Other than that my experience is with 55 gr FMJ and my 50 gr SX handloads.

Camdm,
I have been reloading the Hornady VMax 40gr for my Bushmaster 1-9 twist. No problems at all in cycling, and the twist is not to fast for that particular bullet. It has been a praire dogs nightmare.
