Para ordnance 14.45

Thank goodness Graybeard is back! I need some help on a para ordnance, it's probly been out for a while but I just ran accrossed it. Do any of you have any experience with the Para-Ordnance LDA 14.45? Is it reliable and accurate? I have a Para Carry LDA and love the trigger on it, other guns are great afterthe first shot, but it is the first shot that will make a difference. I want to use the 14.5 as a training/range gun and the Para carry as my CCW. Any thoughts or comments on the 14.5 would be great.

Accurate? Yes. Reliable? No. Except for the range (it's fun to shoot when it isn't jamming), mine spends most of it's time in the safe.

I have a PARA LDA Hi-cap that they call the "COLONEL". It has the parakote green finish w/night sights. I was hesitant to try it but I've got to say that I have had only one malfunction in more than than 2000 rds. and that was weak hand, one handed shooting. The original recoil spring guide broke in two after about 1000 rds. and the company sent out a replacement full length guide rod within four days. Since that replacement I have had zero problems with reliability. On the other hand, the finish is terrible. My gun shows major holster wear after one year (I carry it daily). The customer service folks said they will refinish it, but I don't care for the thought of sending my gun in once a year for a new paint job. I would buy a stainless model next time. The gun is accurate enough, but the point of impact is approx. 10" below the point of aim at 25 yards. (I shoot American Eagle Ball and Fed. Hydra-shok both in 230gr.) I am looking into an adjustable rear night sight to correct this problem. All in all, I would buy another one (I'm thinking about one of their concealed carry  models). I've heard a lot of people complaining about their reliability but I don't see a problem from here.

I have a high cap 14.45  PDA in stainless and have never had a jam.  I have fed HP's and ball.  I have fired slow and as fast as I can pull the trigger with never a failure.  Failure to feed problems can be found in any brand of semi auto.  While they are more rare in some brands than another, they are usually easy to fix if the model itself is generally reliable. 
For the writer that has function problems, my question would be, "have you contacted Para Ord?".
From what I have heard, they are good about fixing problems. 
I also have a PDA carry which has never failed either.

I purchased a C6.45 when they first hit the market.  I had fired the gun less than twenty rounds when a young policeman wallked up and asked if he could try it.  After he shot it a few times, he asked if I would sale it to him.  He gave me a song and dance about wanting one for a back-up gun, and not being able to purchase on because there were not that many on the markewt at the time,  I sold him the gun for exactly what I paid.  He had tons of jam problems with the gun after firing about 100 rounds through it.  I later seen him at the range, he said he had traded for Hk and would never again own a para-ordance.

His experience was enough to prevent me from buying another one.

Have a P12.45 that did nothing but jam.  I really think it was the magazine & was going to try new springs, but instead installed the frame in a Mech-Tech carbine & it now works fine without new magazine springs.
 I think the original springs didn't push up the new round quick enough in the quick recoiling gun. The blowback carbine is noticably slower in working the bolt. Just a guess.

For what it's worth, I have several Paras.  Of the bunch my winter-time daily carry is their Para 12 lightweight; never a hangup, never a problem, very reliable.

Para CCW LDA Stainless.  Have about 500 rounds thru it, used when I got it.  Functions flawlessly with HP Personal Defense loads (a variety but like the 165gr Federals best), both Federal Redbox/Speer Lawman/Remington FMJ.

Points well, accurate, just a nice overall weapon... At least for me...

I think I would do some things to that Para if it were mine. I think for little money it could be made to spin like a top.
Para's are, from reputation, better than you described.
Have you done anything too it?

The C6 and C7 have made trips back to the factory because I really wanted them as my regular CCW's due to their caliber and compact size. The C6 will only chamber FMJ's on it's own. All other ammo locks the slide back unless I manually chamber the round but, of course, that is of little good for the following round if I had to use it in a defensive situation -- would be better off with a single action revolver. The C7 is only SLIGHTLY better. Both have been assigned to safe duty. The C12 was traded in for a Beretta 96D compact not to long ago.

Out of all of them, the 14.45 is about the most reliable but not enough for me to trust my life to it. I don't recall EVER going more than two mags without at LEAST one jam.

You say "some things could be done for little money to make them spin like a top" ... besides trips to the factory which didn't help much, what do you suggest? I would really LOVE to be able to carry my C6 and C7!

I've been carrying a P12-45 for years, and it did jam for the first 200 rounds or so, and then just with the low-velocity bulk ammo. Since then, the only time I've ever had a problem has been after letting the mags get too dirty. If you carry a lot (like I do) and don't fire it as much, take it apart every now and then and give it a good cleaning. It's never jammed with the hotter loaded ammo, such as Cor-Bon, which I carry in it. It also loves the MagTech ammo, which is great because the stuff is cheap!
