Sportster scope mount?
« on: November 28, 2006, 04:06:29 AM »
Maybe this has been asked before...........Is there anyway to mount a 22 Rf scope on a Sportster?
I like to see a gun with a scope mounted, instead of a scope with a gun mounted under it!
Does anyone know if 3/4 inch rings are available anywhere, or a base that will accept a groved rimfire type of scope???
Thanks

The barrel should be drilled and tapped for a scope rail already, lots of bases made for them, see the FAQs. If it's not D&Td, any gunsmith can drill & tap then mount a base.

Reloaderman,

I had a 4 power scope on my sportster and wasn't satisfied because of the bulk of the scope compared to the rifle.  I recently picked up and inexpensive red dot 1X scope and mounted it to the Sportster.  The red dot scope is a whole lot smaller and looks and feels right to me for a relatively short range rifle.  Got the red dot at a local gun show for thirty few dollars and it mounts on the weaver style mount that I had the 4X scope on.

I noticed that Bud's Gun Shop (budsgunshop.com) had some red dots in the same price range as the one I got.

Thanks for the response, I now have a RED DOT on my Sportster and it works well for rimfire ranges. Quick acquisition on them jackrabbits!!!
I just thought a slim rimfire scope would look neat!

Reloaderman;

       Since you're looking to put a 3/4 " scope on your rifle..haunt gun shops and e-bay..
    I have a Redfield 3/4 " scope that was made in the 60s or 70s  and I couldn't ask for a better scope..they are hard to find, but well worth the hunt !
