Well boys, I finally did it.
« on: December 31, 2006, 03:42:34 PM »
I have over the last 40 somethin years accumulated too many guns. The other day I sold my 4570, which I used in the brush at close quarters for feral hogs. I have been trimmin down my collection as I am getting too old to want to reload a bunch of different caliburs. I have stated on this forum recently that I have a Rem. 1100 with a 21" barrel, rifle sights, 7 shot magazine, and will shoot one ragged hole groups at fifty yards. I got to thinkin. What will the 4570 do in the brush with a 350lb hog, that a 1oz magnum slug won't do better? Answer? Nothing. I replaced the front sight with a Hi-Viz, and it's quick. Those 7 extra rounds usually aren't needed, but are a comfort. Hog's ain't as tuff to kill as people think they are, but a boar that's mad, or a sow with pigs will kill or cripple you if you corner'em without a plan. If I need more range, I have a 3030, and a 2506. If I need more rounds, I have a 357mag in a Model 92 Win. I'm trimming down to common sense, instead of extra toys. This is part of my effort to simplify my way of doing things as I get older. The 4570 was one of the last to go, but possibly not THE last. ;D

Sounds like you are just trying to convince yourself. There is no need to justify selling your gun's if you don't find a need for it, sell it.  ;) Personally I would take a 45-70 over a 20 gauge slug any day. JMHO.
If  you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.
