Price Check - Colt .38 Detective Special - 99% Condition

I received a phone call from a close friend, he told me of a 99%, still in the original box, Colt Detective Special with Pachmayer grips, with Colt embossed logos, that he had just eyed in a local gun shop.  I do not know the year of manufacter, none-the-less I phoned the gunshop and placed a deposit on the gun.  Should be in my gunsafe by tomorrow afternoon.

The price was $359., plus tax.  Considering the condition, do you consider the price to be fair?  I'm located in the NW.

 My comments on this I think that is real reasonble price.
 I see them asking more than that some time back.
 I have one that I bought new back in early 70's
 that would not sell for $500  My 2 cents Marv.

Yes the price is very reasonable if that's the gun you want. I'd certainly consider it below the average going price in such condition around here at least. They are nice guns.

I haven't seen one in quite a while. The last one was going for either $400 or $450. Yes, I'd say you got a good deal.

Thanks for all the input on this "purchase."  Well almost a purchase!!  As I indicated on my initial post I tendered a deposit over the phone and had arranged to pickup the pistol the following day.  WELL, I woke up feeling quite ill and phoned the dealer.  He was not willing to hold the gun even though he had taken my deposit.  He offered to return my deposit, I haven't checked with the credit card company as of yet to verify his offer to credit my card.

I feel more sick at having lost the Detective Special than I had when I woke up feeling ill.
