Says it is missing the breech plug, but I think one can be had at Hubbards. Just thought someone might be looking for one.

I think I am going to bid on it; so hopefully we won't be killing each other with bids. If someone else thinks they need it worse than me let me know and we can work it out and not run the bid up.

Sold for $155.07 missing the breechplug and shipping of $25 so I think I could have bought a new one for the same amount except that this is a .58  and I'm not sure they still make a .58. Needless to say I didn't win the bid since my top bid was quite a bit below that. Just have to be satisfied with my Huntsman .50 which I just shot for the first time and my groups were just a little bit better than my Omega with the same loads. 90gr. Black Mag'3 and 375gr. SSB bullets. 100 yard group about two inches. I have done better than that with the Omega but with lighter bullets and not after so many shots with recoiling rifles. Shot the Omega and the Huntsman alternately and after about 20 shots started not wanting to pull the trigger any more.

i usally find those for around a hundred bucks with a plug....dont think you missed out on any thing.....good ball shoters not enough rifiling to get  bullets to be real accurate///////jb

Thanks for the information. I was considering it for a possible elk rifle. Presently use the Omega .50 but thought if it would handle a .58 conical it might be a better choice. If it is mainly a round ball shooter the value for elk just would not be there. I have shot a few elk with the .50 and 300gr. bullets and they walk off quite a way before they finally drop. I have stepped up to 375gr. Buffalo SSB bullets for this season if I get a shot.

I've always wanted to try a .58 or .62 caliber ball shooter for elk. I've only killed two elk with round ball and they were both .54's. In both cases I shot clear through the animals, and recovery was about like I've come to expect from a double lung hit. One cow died within 30 paces and the other within a hundred. Round ball works pretty well in my limited experience but as always your mileage may vary...
