Just picked up a Rossi 223 rifle from Gander Mtn. in Winchester Va. for $149. Lotsogun for the price. Upon cleaning the gun (CHRISTmas present from the wife) I found the rifling to be shallow. Prehaps 3 or 4 thous.
I broke down a Valmet AK in 223 I own and it appeared to be the same shallow cut. Is this normal for .223?.
I'm used to 3006', 8mm, 45-70 etc. being deaper. Prehaps the high villosity requires less. Check out your .223s and let me know if I have something to worry about.
