22-250 range report / update w - pics
« on: December 28, 2006, 12:24:43 PM »
Got to sneek out and shoot the new 250 , I think it is a keeper the only thing that i dom't like is the old style extractor on it .

What do you think , shots were 100 yards .

Not bad for a total of 12 rounds , plan to go out sat. and give it a good going over .

stimpy

It likes the 40 gr. V-Max and the Sierra 53 gr. HPs real well but just hates the 35 gr. V-Max  ::)

Lookin good Stimpy, great start!! Keep the chamber clean and I don't think you'll have a problem with the extractor, seems all the problems have been related to stuck brass. I have yet to stick any in either my .22-250 or .204, both with the gen 1 extractor.

Hi stimply, glad to see you got to do some shooting with new handi! My likes the 50gr v-max with 24.5grs 3031.Seated at 2.31 and shoots right under half inch.Tried the 40 v-max in couple loads'they did well but never got back to them as I'm happy with the 50gr load.

As a 22-250 fan I will respectfully say thats a decent start but you have a ways to go.  I haven't seen one yet that won't shoot the 50 grain V Max load from Hornady well.  If you reload copy it.  The 22-250 is a very accurate round in fact I feel in these modern times some forget how accurate it is.  Just a few decades ago it was used in bench rest comp. just to short a barrel life for that.

5 shot average at 100 yards in the .750" range is the resonable goal with a decent scope for factory guns.  For what ever reason they carry the moa (at least mine did) better at 300 yards than 200 on calm days.  Often 3 of 5 cluster into 1 inch at 300 yards.  Speed bucks wind too ;D

Awesome caliber,  I am sure you will have fun dialing it in and I am sure you will  ;)
