Ever buy a Handi just for the stocks?
« on: December 22, 2006, 02:21:09 PM »
There is a new Handi in 22 magnum at the LGS (local gun shop).  I REALLY like the wood on this one - light/medium blond laminate with checkering.

Anybody want a 22 mag barrel?

If it's the factory offered Ultra Varmint, it should be a 22" bull barrel! ;) And yes, lots here buy complete rifles for the stock or barrel or frame, then sell/trade the rest. ;) That's part of the affliction!! ;D

I almost bought another 3030 at Kittery Trading Post 2 weeks back.  BEAUTIFUL stock it almost looked like the tiger striping on an old Kentucky rifle.  It was really cool and I stood there checking it over and wondering how po'd my wife would get for $219.00...Long story short...I wussed out!

hunterwinco, are you located in New England also? I enjoy stopping and looking at KTP on my way north to my camp and on the way south again when I'm headed home. You never know what you will find. About a month ago on the way up north I stopped and checked there, I looked at and passed on a NEF 12 Ga, 3 1/2" chamber, full choke turkey gun with a 24" barrel, a firelight front sight and Monte Carlo stock that prevented you from lining up the barrel and sight, it was just about useless the way it was but I wanted it for the assembled parts. I thought about it while at camp and tried to buy it on the way home on Thanksgiving morning, they were closed and a week later it was gone!!!  The stock set was just what I need, I could have used the reciever and firelight front sight and sold the barrel. I'm still a little bummed out over that one....<><.... :-\

MSP Ret. -- I am in Gorham ME, I am on the road a lot for work and travel to appointments in NH a lot.  I usually swing in quick and see what new!  Scarborough zoning committee approved Cabelas the other night, so I will have a Cabelas' within 7 miles of the house!

I bought a new Ultra in .22WMR just for the stock set.   I put the wood on my .17HMR and put the composite set on the .22WMR to sell.  Didn't get around to selling the .22 so I stuck a compact Leupold that I wasn't using on it so my son could shoot it.   Its no longer for sale because it's now one of my favorites and rides the tractors all day with me.  It looks for coyotes for me while I work.  :P
