Handi-Rifle-Interesting web site on NEF conversion
« on: December 27, 2006, 05:24:14 PM »
Came accross this web site with an interesting presentation of a Handi-Rifle project.  I don't completely understand it, but I thought it might interest those of you who do.

Intersting gun. What do you use it for?  What are the ballistics of the .17?  How much does ammo cost?  Does it kill better than a .22 LR?   It seems like a lot of gun for a mere rimfire...or am I wrong.  Would love to hear more about your very interesting .17 NEF.

Its a great crow and wood chuck round. I can get five shot groups under 1/2 inch at 100 yards if I do my part but always under an inch. I have only shot a few things with it so far acuple crows longest shot 152 yards on crow.

Yeap Terry is the smith to this link. I have seen his work and can vouch to the quality of his work. He is also very reasonable in his prices and has been experimenting with some very cool customs and wildcats.
If your interested send him an email. He is a man of few words and is pretty straight up, but welcomes the interest and questions.

I thought  David White was the only one to do the maximizer brake? Him and Kim at Pricision Rifle Works did my gun and its perfect. They also like the Bellum rounds.

Hi guys

Thanks for the good words and pics.

It seems that Terry may be a good person and smith.
BUT those pics were directly off David Whites & Precision Rifleworks Hunt 101's account. The Rifle was being built for a forum member, drdoolittle 1. I still have the rifle pic, the rest were deleted to make room for more projects.
The Muzzle Brake shown is Precision Rifleworks ALUMINUM MAXIMIZER! Set up in our cross vice on our drill press!
Stop by PR's shop you can see for yourself. Our Door is always open!
So as for honesty make up your own minds!

I should also point out the pics were taken at the end of 2003. not 2006.

Jason brought his rifle in to us during the fall special. We were discounting the sleeper package $100 during that time. Reg price for the same work is $350, but his was the rimfire version with a G/M barrel. What kind of blank and quality, match etc. options ordered Greatly effect the price.
Thanks, Kim

Who has one or two of these guns and how do they shoot??

Just curious as to whether it'd be worth the shell out and catchin' it from the wife...lol

HI guys
Just a follow up.
We called Terry this afternoon seems he was not sure where he got the pictures.
We told him they were ours and asked him to remove them.
They were taken down this evening when I checked.
I hope this was just a mistake and in believing so wish him the best.

Hi Tux

I probably have some pic's were you looking for stubbed barrels exclusivly? Right now I'm taking 3 days off to take the kids to grandmas house. When I get back we start full blast on our Barrel making project. We will be welding lugs on to barrels for H&R's. There is a spot on our forum for the barrels we make that do not yet have an owner. We just did a Contender barrel stub for XP Hunter in 30-30 Improved, look for his reports on this! I'm sure he will post a few pics maybe a few targets as well.

david white did two stub jobs for me one 6x47imp on a hart barrel contender and another on a encore shilen 460 both are excellant shooters still working with the 460 looking for a good blue dot light load  but the 6x47 shoots under 1/2 nice metal work on both tks for your time ken
