WW .223 brass
« on: January 01, 2007, 03:40:09 AM »
I use a Lee Accuprime tool for priming.  Military Winchester .223 brass will not fit into the shell holder.  I think the rims are too large.  Any suggestions?  I mean about making them fit.  I want to use them.

Two possibilities come to mind.  First, Winchester may be making their military contract brass a bit thick in the rim for use in the M249.  Second, you may have wound up with a minimum dimension shell holder, or both situations could be compounding each other.

I would try another shell holder.  If that doesn't work, have a machinist/gunsmith open that shell holder up a few thousanths.

Contact Lee and see if they will fix it under warranty, if it doesn't fit standard 223/5.56 cases it is defective.

Good luck, you will need it!
