Turn around time for new Barrels and other barrel program questions

Thinking of getting a .223 bull barrel for my 308 Ultra. How long does it typically take H&R to do this? Their website says 6-8 weeks. Secondly, do I need to remove the silicone from my foreend before sending it in? If I get a new bull barrel will I need a new foreend or will the same forend fit both barrels?

When a forend is bedded, it's mated to that barrel, just don't send a forend with it, order a new one so you can dedicate it to the new barrel. That's one of the benefits of having complete guns, once it shoots well, there's no swapping barrels and forgetting what worked with the other barrels, be it bedded, O-ring, etc...

We sent a receiver in to be fitted to two new barrels on 13 Nov.   Called this morning.  About 3 - 4 more weeks was the response.  Holiday break I expect.   Oh well......
